the end of the beginning

Starting an old fashioned paper diary was so much easier than a modern internet blog. You wrote your name inside the front cover; filled in all the random personal information that diaries had space for (taking a wild guess at your blood group) and then perused the pages of useless pre-printed information such as metric conversion tables and wine readiness charts, before finally concluding you didn't have anything interesting to write that day and putting the diary back on the shelf for the remainder of the year.
With these new-fangled blog things, you actually have to find something to say. There are no excuses, no bookshelves to hide away on, and no lists of Scottish national holidays.
So here I am. For those of you who don't know me already, I am a musician of sorts, a kind of songwriter, and not quite a multimedia internet entrepeneur. In simpler terms (and the likely terms of those who do already know me) that means I am a guy who likes dabbling in all different kinds of creative things. I make music and videos, and I also dabble in a bit of writing. Sometimes I do these things alone; other times I collaborate with any number of my incredibly talented friends.
I have been on something of a creative break since I became a proud parent last year, during which time this site was down for the most part. Back then, Men From Earth was a page about a band that didn't really exist anymore. Now I want it to be so much more. I want all my various projects to come together on this site. If I write a new song, you will find it here. If I produce a video with my friends, you will find it here. If any of my various writing projects amount to anything, you will find them here. Likely if they don't amount to anything they will get dumped here too. Basically, this page is going to be about everything creative that I do.
